Original Car Mat Fibers

When car mats were beginning to be manufactured, their original carpet fibers were designed from coco and sisal fibers.

Sisal fibers  are commonly found in residential entry mats and rugs. 

Coco fibers are a more natural fiber taken from coconut husks. They are rough in texture and are often used in entry mats and brushes.

As the automobile industry evolved, so did the original equipment manufacturing standards, car mats included. In 1970, Racemark invented the first carpet car mat, whichmet OEM car mat regulations which test for:
