Roll down your windows -- or if you're lucky, lower your convertible top -- because summer is quickly approaching! Our factory headquarters is located in sunny Georgia, so we've become pros at summer celebrations. Make your first summer festivity unforgettable with a Memorial Day cookout. To help you out, we’ve compiled some inspiring photos and helpful tips that will make your cookout the perfect summer event.

Memorial Day Party Planning: Things to Consider

Location, Location, Location
You hear it often and for good reason. Are you going to have an intimate gathering in your home or backyard? Or are you looking for something larger and more elegant? One things' for sure, in the summer heat, proximity to a pool or lake is always a plus.

Time of day
Without the aforementioned proximity to a pool or lake, you'll probably want to host an outdoor party in the evening since the temperature will be considerably cooler. For mid-day outdoor celebrations, pick a location with some shady spaces for relaxing.

Determine the Menu
After all of the major details (When, Where, and Who) have been solved, progress to the smaller, yet very important pieces, like food and decorations. Are you going to prepare all of the food yourself, or are you going to make it more casual and ask your guests to bring items? Decide what your budget is, and make sure to communicate with your guests exactly what type of party it is. When you think you're getting a full meal, cheese cubes just don't cut it. We’ve all been to that kind of party, and it was terrible.

For the perfect touch, incorporate some red, white, and blue foods into your meal.

Less Decor is More

When decorating, make sure to not overdo it. The saying “less is more” can be applied to the process. Stick to solid colors with only a few patterns to serve as accents. Whether a cookout or cocktail party, simple can still be elegant. This patriotic table from Lookiloos is an excellent example of how to incorporate simplistic designs into your decorations. The red accents look stunning when in contrast to the lighter white and blue shades.

After you have your party plans in order, make sure to be a stylish host. Never let your party guests show up looking better than you. We have pulled some of our favorite pieces to serve as inspiration when shopping for your outfit.
